Research for future Field Trips

This weekend included research for future Field Trips in the areas just south of Piers 15/17 on the Embarcadero and the residential stairways leading up to Coit Tower. As part of an outdoor excursion led by staff from The Exploratorium, we traversed the Filbert St. and Greenwich St. stairwells. Aside from actual stair structures, I noticed a building facade with interesting stepped windows, a fire hydrant many flights up the side of a hill, and a castle for sale. We also crossed paths with the filmmakers behind The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill and discovered a beautiful active beehive made of wood. [CL]
